Please arrive 10 min before your appointment begins. Make sure that you have eaten something (breakfast, lunch or a snack) as discussing emotional problems can be taxing on the mind and body. Dr. Tummala offers organic tea to help you relax and feel comfortable during the interview. You can expect to spend anywhere from 60-75 minutes with Dr. Tummala. She will cover not just your psychiatric history but also your medical history and exam. Many patients find this initial interview to be an eye-opening experience, as she will start you on your journey of self-awareness, and you will begin to understand the biological and psychological underpinnings of your presenting complaint. From connecting the dots in this way, the proposed treatment will also make sense.
Once Dr Tummala completes her portion of the evaluation, you will meet with Vaidya Sunita Pandey (she is an MD in Ayurvedic medicine and the Sanskrit word – ‘Vaidya’ translates to ‘doctor’) for the remaining 20-30 min. Vaidya Pandey will also provide you with a basic understanding about your ‘Doshas’ and the imbalance in them. She may recommend certain Ayurvedic supplements (most of which are available for purchase at the clinic).
